On completion of 25 years of the job, it has been suggested to have a pension of 50 per cent of the last salary. With an intention to simplify the pay scale, the commission has recommended increasing old age allowance on completion of every five years after 65 years. After retirement, the restructuring of commutation of 40% of the revised pension has been restored. House rent is recommended to be kept on the old pattern but it is recommended to give higher education allowance to employees for taking higher education on the job.

The Commission is stating this as a new allowance. The commission has recommended discontinuation of special allowances being given to various employees. It is worth noting that the former Akali BJP government constituted the Sixth Pay Commission, but Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh appointed former Chief Secretary Jai Singh Gill as its chairman as soon as he came to power.
