Latest Update Punjab Pay Commission Report 2021. Sixth Pay Commission in Punjab: In the era of covid, when there is a lot of disappointment on every side, the employees of Punjab Government have become twelve in the year of election. The Sixth Pay Commission, constituted five years ago, has submitted its report to the Chief Minister. In this, the average salary of all employees is expected to increase by 20 percent. However, their minimum wage is now recommended to be increased by 2.59 times. That is, till now the minimum salary which was 6950 rupees will now increase to 18 thousand rupees.
This report will come into effect from January 1, 2016. The commission made this increase at a time when the economy of Punjab is badly derailed due to the corona and the state is already burdened with a debt of Rs 2.73 lakh crore. The Chief Minister has sent the report to the Finance Department for detailed discussion, so that it can be placed in the cabinet for further action. In the Legislative Assembly, the government announced the implementation of the report from July 1 this year. The report has been submitted by the commission to the government at a time when the state’s economy is already under pressure due to the corona, and the possibility that taxes and GST are not increasing in that proportion. It has also recommended an increase in pension and DA, while doubling the fixed medical allowances and graduation. If the recommendations are accepted then the employees and pension holders will now get a fixed medical allowance of one thousand rupees. It has also been recommended to increase the ex gratia grant received on death of a government employee, it is also important that many government employees and officials have lost their lives while doing their duty in the current corona epidemic. The commission has also recommended doubling the design allowance to engineering staff and kit maintenance allowance to police personnel and increasing the mobile allowance from 375 to Rs 750.
The Commission has asked these recommendations to be implemented from July 1. Due to these recommendations of the Commission, the exchequer will incur a burden of Rs 3500 crore annually. The commission has recommended continuation of the existing system of central pay scales and dearness allowance, merging basic pay with dearness allowance when it reaches 50 per cent, and giving benefits to retired employees other than employees. On completion of 25 years of the job, it has been suggested to have a pension of 50 per cent of the last salary. With an intention to simplify the pay scale, the commission has recommended increasing old age allowance on completion of every five years after 65 years. After retirement, the restructuring of commutation of 40% of the revised pension has been restored. House rent is recommended to be kept on the old pattern but it is recommended to give higher education allowance to employees for taking higher education on the job.
The Commission is stating this as a new allowance. The commission has recommended discontinuation of special allowances being given to various employees. It is worth noting that the former Akali BJP government constituted the Sixth Pay Commission, but Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh appointed former Chief Secretary Jai Singh Gill as its chairman as soon as he came to power.
